My Inauggie Thoughts

Got up this morning to watch the inauguration. The vet called me before my alarm went off to tell me that Lil Roo didn't make it through the night. As sad as this makes me, she was a sick little girl, and is better off. I'll probably blog more on it later.

That being said, I went downstairs and watched the great, big, historic event to end all historic events. I found it endearing that Obama, clearly nervous, flubbed his lines on the oath. Other random thoughts in my head...

- Obama talks with his hands a lot, usually using the same gesture. It kind of annoys me.

- Yo Yo Ma is a God and we should all worship his cello.

- Aretha Franklin still sounds good...but what was with that hat???

- Not impressed with the "poet". I started to drool on myself halfway through her poem. Too bad Shel Silverstein is dead. He would have been much more entertaining.

- Inauguration Over, I think I'm ready for a nap.

POST-NAP INAUGGIE THOUGHTS

- Michelle's dress was bad. Hopefully, her gown will make up for it. If not, she needs to fire her stylist and get a new one.

- I knew I should have put Ted Kennedy on my 2009 list.

- I still can't get over Aretha Franklin's hat!!!

- Obama didn't flub up the oath, the judge did and Obama caught it. Which makes you wonder if Obama practiced the oath at home to the point of memorization.

- CNN really needs to tone things down a notch or two.

Sorry to hear about your cat :-(

That hat was incredible, I've never quite seen anything like it.

The color of Michelle's suit was not good. Not good at all.

So sorry about your kitty. I would be heartbroken!

That was Aretha's "go to meeting" hat... Maybe she was trying to take the focus off the fact that she's the size of a tank?

I have to disagree with you about Aretha: It feels like heresy to say this out loud -- because how could anyone not love Aretha? She's a national treasure! -- but I thought she sounded like, um, fecal slurry.

Then again, I liked the poem a lot (though not the way she read it) so maybe our tastes just differ.

(But no, seriously. If that voice had come out of anyone but Aretha with her history of fabulousness, she'd have been booed off the stage. People give her a pass because she is who she is. That sucked.) (Ugh, I'm going to hell for saying so. HERESY, I say!)

Aw! I'm so sorry about the Lil Roo thing, Heather!

And I thought Michelle's dress for the balls (I can't say that word without giggling, thanks to Emaw now...) was much better than her choice for the day proceedings. MUCH better.

But I'm willing to bet they're pretty fucking tired of the song "At Last" now. Sheesh!

I hate having to bid goodbye to a pet.

Agreed about the hat. I blogged about that.

Didn't care for the poem.

Oh, and the invocation was too long.

Considering I didn't vote Obama, his speech sounded pretty good to me. But Meesha linked to a video comparing Obama's speech to things W has said, and good grief, that ain't change! It's an echo. I learn so much from local blogs.

So very sorry for your loss...I truly believe it's as hard (sometimes harder) as losing a human.
I did see this on the news the other night though if you're thinking of getting another little one anytime soon.
